Another article on Nikolaj’s new film THE OTHER WOMAN. Here he also talks about his GAME OF THRONES alter ego, Jaime Lannister.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Talks The Other Woman, Game Of Thrones Fans

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is spotted on the set of ‘The Other Woman’ in New York City, April 30, 2013Caption “Game of Thrones” star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is having some fun on his latest project, “The Other Woman.” Not only is he paired up with Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann for the big screen film, but unlike some of his other projects, he can talk fairly freely about it without fear of spoilers.

“It’s such a relief,” he laughed, when he spoke with from the New York City set recently.

While the Danish actor’s last two films — “Oblivion” with Tom Cruise and “Mama” with Jessica Chastain — had the actor tip toeing with his words prior to their release, “The Other Woman” allows him to dish in detail.

In the film, which is being directed by Nick Cassavetes (“The Notebook”), Nikolaj plays a less than faithful spouse, who hooks up with a character played by Cameron.

“I’m the husband to Leslie Mann and Cameron is the other woman and they kind of form some kind of bond, those two women,” he revealed.

“Then, they find out he has a third woman — that’s Kate Upton — and all three meet up and it’s one of those things where he has to pay a price for his wicked ways,” Nikolaj added.

The project will also star Nicki Minaj, but she isn’t expect to be yet another “Other Woman.”

“She’s in there as well, but I’m not having a [relationship with her], not as the script is now,” he said. “But who knows what happens. That’s a platonic relationship so far. But she’s a lot of fun, I have to say that.”

After his big dramatic arc as Jaime Lannister in “Game of Thrones” Season 3, Nikolaj said he’s been enjoying doing the light-hearted faire.

“I’m having fun. That’s for sure,” he said. “It’s a great part. He’s such a, I’m a real, what’s the word — d***? So that’s fun.”

Although he has both a thriving film career and a series regular gig on “Game of Thrones,” it’s the latter project that often prompts fans to come up to the actor with a comment or two. And after Jaime’s recent transformative journey, one that saw him lose his hand and later, reveal his true colors to Gwendoline Christie’s Brienne of Tarth, Nikolaj been getting a different reaction than he got in Seasons 1 and 2 (when he was thought of as the guy who shoved Bran Stark out of a window).

“It has changed,” he told Access. “After the episode where I had my hand chopped off, I think at least 100 people came up to me [in] the days after [and said]… ‘I’m glad to see you’ve got your hand.’ … I think what’s been amazing is… the people that like the show are always just really excited about it. Even in Season 1 where they’re like, ‘You freak! You’re disgusting!’ it’s still said with a smile because you kind of appreciate the character because he’s always had — even though he’s done some horrible things, he’s had a wit about him.”

“The Other Woman” will hit theaters in April 2014.

“There [were] a few bars in New York where people, in Season 1, were shouting, ‘Kingslayer!’ They’re just drunken guys, but they’re very kind. They sent down a couple of beers. So I have no complaints. I haven’t had any bad experiences to be honest,” he added.

Nothing with Nikolaj as Sykes, but I have two new posters from the upcoming OBLIVION.

I’ve been forgetting to get this up so my apologies for the lateness. Nikolaj in his press junket for MAMA sat in the red chair on the Canadian talk show George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, also known as Strombo, to discuss the film as well as the success of GAME OF THRONES. There are two clips: One is the entire interview, the other is a snippit solely about GAME OF THONES that does not appear in the interview. Included is a comment from A Song of Ice And Fire author George R. R. Martin where he talks about the morality of the show and the duality of the characters from the series. Very informative I’d say. Please enjoy. It’s my pleasure to be bringing this to you from my native Canada.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau guested on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight to discuss his film 'Mama' and his series 'Game of Thrones'.

Guillermo del Toro's moody thriller starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Jessica Chastain took in $28.1 million in its opening weekend.

MAMA ended up at number one at the box office this weekend taking in $28.1 million over the weekend. This bodes well for Nikolaj. Yeah, I know people will likely say that it was Jessica Chastain that pulled in those bucks, but with Nikolaj’s profile since GAME OF THRONES I would suspect there are more than enough Jaime Lannister fans out there to have made some dent in that figure. But hey our guy is getting noticed. With OBLIVION due out in April and GAME OF THONES due back in March I’d say Nikolaj has nothing to be ashamed of.

Two new things on Nikolaj’s promotion for the film MAMA. The first is the New York premiere and the other is an appearance on the Good Day New York morning show where he discusses MAMA and the impending return of GAME OF THRONES where by gosh, he still defends our favourite Kingslayer. Nikolaj looks so good. I don’t know if it’s me but he seems to be getting younger. I’m also loving some of the clips from MAMA with those two little girls who play his nieces in the film. I’m wondering if Nikolaj was thinking at all of Safina and Phillipa?

According to both Collider and Variety, Nikolaj has joined the independent film A THOUSAND TIMES GOOD NIGHT with actress Juliette Binoche. More below.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Joins A THOUSAND TIMES GOOD NIGHT

Variety reports that Coster-Waldau will join Binoche in A Thousand Times Good Night, an indie drama co-written by Harald Rosenlow Eeg. The picture was based in part on director Poppe’s experiences as a war-time photographer in the 80s, though Binoche will play that part as the lead, who is torn between her job and her family. There’s no report on exactly who Coster-Waldau will be playing in the film, which recently started filming in Ireland and will continue to Morocco, Kenya and Kabul for shoots. Coster-Waldau recently wrapped Oblivion alongside Tom Cruise and can next be seen opposite Jessica Chastain in the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror film, Mama. Look for his return to the third season of Game of Thrones on HBO starting March 31st, 2013.

I have a synopsis for OBLIVION. Read on …..

On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind. Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete. Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Just a little blurb from Empire Online about NIkolaj’s new film. More as information comes in.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Talks Oblivion

The Dane on his Tom Cruise sci-fi

With Game Of Thrones sweeping all before it and Scandinavian thriller Headhunters landing soon, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is on the verge of a well-deserved breakthrough. After all, anyone who looks that much like Jaime Lannister deserves to have an oxen perpetually roasting on the spit of life.

There are precious few swords or sandles in his next major undertaking, though – unless sci-fi epic Oblivion has some major surprises in store for us. Tron Legacy’s Joseph Kosinski is already hard at work creating a post-apocalyptic world in which aliens lurk menacingly and Tom Cruise’s solder, Jack, is charged with repairing the drones that protect our planet.

Coster-Waldau, who plays veteran weapons expert Sykes in the movie, explained his character’s dynamic with Cruise’s jaded trooper in intriguing terms when Empire caught up with him. “It’s a Tom Cruise movie for sure; I don’t think there’s a scene without him. I play a soldier who’s not a big fan of Tom’s character. He’s seen a lot of horrible things and there’s a lot of boiled-up anger in him.”

So is he on the side of the angels or the bugs? “I think Tom’s character would probably described my character as a bad guy, but I don’t think the audience would…”

Watch this space for more on a movie – or pick up a copy of the new Empire magazine for more from Coster-Waldau. Oblivion is current pencilled into Universal’s diary for April 19, 2013. With Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough and Morgan Freeman also on board, it’s already plenty intriguing.
