Not only do we have a promo for next week, but episode title as well. Next week’s episode is titled The Spoils of War, and like this week looks to be another great episode. Not sure what Jaime is doing in this promo but I’m hoping it leads to Cersei (Lena Headey) and he falling out. On the heels of Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) and Sansa (Sophie Turner) reuniting, we get a glimpse of Arya (Maisie Williams) finally arriving at Winterfell. Ah those feels just keep coming. Episode three screencaps to come.

Here finally is the media for Nikolaj’s recent episode of GAME OF THRONES. Finally an episode with Jaime. I’d have to say he was in good form with Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) in this episode. He also met Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie). I think I now know what Nikolaj meant when he said this was his best acting job to date. Jaime’s dialogue was perfect and Nikolaj delivered it pitch perfect. I loved his sarcasm with the “Dead Ned” part. I know it’s not nice but how Nikolaj performed it…sublime. A strong thank you has to go to Michelle Fairley for her strong performance as Catelyn. Without her I don’t think the scene would have been a potent. It was her reaction to Nikolaj that upped the “game” as it were. A special shout out too for four of Nikolaj’s co-stars. The first set of “thank yous” need to go to Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) for their excellence in the Harrenhal scenes. I’m loving their story so much. Anything to see Charles Dance is a good thing. Adding in Amazing Maisie just made it that much more special. The other kudos needs to go to Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) and Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister Baratheon) for their scene involving the discussion of Jaime. Honourable mention must also go to Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) for his crazy turn. I really do think he’s come into his own. Problem is: I feel another death on the horizon. Yep, I think it’s going to be Theon.

In the latest in the countdown to the season two premiere of GAME OF THRONES, we have episode nine Baelor. Nikolaj as Jaime Lannister is captured by Robb Stark’s (Richard Madden) army and taken hostage to use as a bargaining chip with King’s Landing in order to get Ned Stark (Sean Bean), Arya (Maisie Williams) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) returned. However, it is too late for Ned who has already been beheaded by the Little Caligula-like emperor Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) contrary to his mother Cersi’s (Lena Headey) wishes.

Today I have one of the best scenes in the series with Nikolaj as Jaime. In E1X03 Lord Snow Jaime is in the throne room at King’s Landing when Ned Stark (Sean Bean) comes in after a long ride to find Jaime sitting on the steps leading up to the Iron Throne. Here Jaime tells Ned what happened to his father and brother at the hands of The Mad King Aerys Targaryen. I’m going to include the main portion of the dialogue because I love the interplay between Nikolaj and Sean who is always good in whatever he does. More after the cut.

Jaime Lannister: It must be strange for you… coming into this room. I was standing right here when it happened. He was very brave, your brother. Your father too. They didn’t deserve to die like that. Nobody deserves to die like that.
Eddard Stark: But you just stood there and watched.

Jaime Lannister: Five hundred men just stood there and watched. All the great knights of the Seven Kingdoms. You think anyone said a word, lifted a finger? No, Lord Stark. Five hundred men and this room was silent as a crypt. Except for the screams, of course, and the mad king laughing. And later… when I watched the mad king die, I remembered him laughing as your father burned… it felt like justice.

Eddard Stark: Is that what you tell yourself at night? You’re a servant of justice? That you were avenging my father when you shoved your sword in Aerys Targaryen’s back?
Jaime Lannister: Tell me: if I’d stabbed the mad king in the belly instead of the back, would you admire me more?

Eddard Stark: You served him well when serving was safe.

Ned’s arrogance will certainly come back to haunt him in episode nine, Baelor with deadly consequences for all involved including Arya (Maisie Williams), Sansa (Sophie Turner), Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) and Robb (Richard Madden).
