Pronounced Niko-lai Coster-Valdau, Nikolaj is best known for his role as 500 year-old Dutch traveller John Amsterdam on the cancelled FOX show NEW AMSTERDAM, and as the space captain Frank Pike in the FOX SCI-FI film VIRTUALITY. Nikolaj first came to the notice of American audiences for his role as MSGT Gary Gordon in the Ridley Scott film BLACK HAWK DOWN based on the October 3, 1993 shootout in Mogadishu, Somalia. Nikolaj has also enjoyed further success as the villain Liam in the Harrison Ford actioner FIREWALL also starring Paul Bettany, in the film WIMBLEDON again starring Bettany, Sam Neill and Bernard Hill, plus the historical epic drama KINGDOM OF HEAVEN directed by Ridley Scott and starring Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Marton Csokas, Jeremy Irons, Edward Norton, Brendan Gleeson, Michael Sheen, and Liam Neeson. Nikolaj's other credits include BENT, NATTEVAGTEN, VILDSPOR co-starring Mads Mikkelsen and which Nikolaj also wrote and produced and starring Nikolaj's wife, actress Nukâka Mozfeldt, THE BAKER also starring Damian Lewis, ENIGMA, HIMMERLAND, and MISERY HARBOUR.
