EST 2011 | your ultimate source for all things nikolaj coster-waldau
Welcome to NIKOLAJ COSTER-WALDAU ONLINE @ nikolajcosterwaldau.org an online resource dedicated to Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Currently being seen as Ser Jaime Lannister on the hugely successful HBO series Game of Thrones, Nikolaj has a varied film and television history. Included are the series New Amsterdam, Virtuality, and Blekingegade. Nikolaj's films include Mama, Black Hawk Down, Wimbledon, Vildspor in which Nikolaj wrote and directed, Enigma, Kingdom of Heaven, The Baker, A Thousand Times Goodnight, Gods of Egypt, Nattevagten and soon to be seen in Nattevagten 2. Nikolaj has also been named the UNDP Goodwill Ambassador to raise awareness and support United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, an action to end poverty, fight inequality and stop climate change. If you're a fan of Nikolaj's please make this your best choice for all things pertaining to his career. This site has an explicit NO CANDIDS policy.

In what Nikolaj as classed as the “icing on the cake” of his twenty-five years in acting, I have the screencaps and clip of his episode of THE SIMPSONS. In a send up of both GAME OF THRONES and The Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit including a vocal performance at the end of Billy Boyd (Perigrin “Pippin” Took) recreating a version of his The Last Goodbye from the end of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. (I almost put The Battle of the Five Kings….you know where my brain is).

This is the video I mentioned in my previous post. Nikolaj got together with good friend Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Ulrich Thomsen made this video to promote one of Nikolaj’s causes as UNDP global ambassador. Of the seventeen initiatives Nikolaj chose two to focus on. The first being climate change, the second gender equality. The video is called Poland is Melting in a sort of funny send up of some of the other “cause” videos made by rock stars. There’s a funny part in the video as you’ll see via the translation at the bottom where Nikolaj claimes “Summer is Coming” in a tongue-in-cheek reference to GAME OF THRONES “Winter is Coming” Stark house words. I love this thing and have watched it at least ten times so far. I’m including a link to Nikolaj’s birthday wish where you can find out more about this issue and donate if you like.

A new interview with Nikolaj. Here Nikolaj appeared on the Fredrik Skavlan show based in the Netherlands. He discussed his work with the UNDP Global Initiative where Nikolaj is concentrating on two of seventeen goals in climate change and gender equality. He premiered a video he did with fellow Danes Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Ulrich Thomsen and Josefine Pettersen. The video is so funny and I’ll be posting that after this one. Nikolaj also talked about the discomfort of watching Nukâka Motzfeldt kiss a guy on stage despite her having seen him do it for ages. Ironically the interviewer’s girlfriend Maria Bonnevie, starred with Nikolaj in A SECOND CHANCE and had to watch as Nikolaj and she had a love scene. So funny. Lastly Nikolaj talked about GAME OF THRONES season eight and the security measures being implemented by HBO so as not to have the same plot leak as they had for season seven.

The columnists at Winteriscoming.net have weighed in on GAME OF THRONES season seven’s acting VIPs. In their latest column they’ve said that Nikolaj deserves the best actor of the season’s award for his amazing work as our resident Kingslayer. Click on the image below to see what they had to say about Nikolaj, then go over to the poll located here: Small Council Best Actor :: Game of Thrones Season 7 and vote for our guy.

This interview is too cute. Here Nikolaj talks about his new film SHOT CALLER and being in prison. Then he gives his views on various GAME OF THRONES characters and how they’d fair in prison. Included are Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Bronn (Jerome Flynn) and Jaime’s sister Cersei (Lena Headey). His answers are quite funny. Enjoy.

We’ve come to yet another end of a season of GAME OF THRONES. It did look a little close there for Jaime going up against Cersei (Lena Headey). I truly thought he’d loose his head at the hands of Gregor Clegane/The Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) after he called Cersei’s bluff. At least he’s finally free of her. Now he heads North to join the Great War for the Dawn. The episode was as usual pro forma for this show, particularly season six and seven. The writing, acting, directing, everything has been above par. If you don’t mind I’m going to give a special call out to the series composer, Ramin Djwadi. What a stirring score he’s composed for both this and last season. If they say music is the soul, than Ramin Djawadi is just that, the soul of this show. I thought for the featured image for this post I’d use one of Jaime’s final moments in this episode. The scene where he is making his exit from King’s Landing and snow begins to fall on the capital. Nikolaj as usual nailed it. Just beautiful. I’m also including season eight’s soundtrack in this posting.

Going forward here’s what I hope to accomplish before season eight’s debut. I’m hoping to get Nikolaj’s work from season four, five and six done in order to prepare for season eight. What I want to do is when season eight airs, is to get up to the final episode in the series and that be the last post for Nikolaj’s time on GAME OF THRONES with the exception of whatever comes after the show with regards to home video and soundtrack releases. The thought of that will be sad indeed.

Another video interview for you. Here Nikolaj talks about his career and his new film SHOT CALLER as well as his role as Jaime Lannister on GAME OF THRONES.

In an interview with the The Build Series, Nikolaj talks about his film SHOT CALLER where he plays Jacob a man who enters the prison system after a DUI turns bad, and also GAME OF THRONES season seven. Nikolaj also discusses acting and what makes him want to do it, plus the United States Prison System and why it needs to change.

New stills from the season seven finale of GAME OF THRONES titled The Dragon and the Wolf. My feeling is the title refers more to Lyanna Stark (Aisling Franciosi) and Rhaegar Targaryen (Actor To Be Named Later) than it does Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Danaerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). Though of course the title is more than applicable to Jon and Dany. In the stills though looks like there is some “marital” strife between Jaime and Cersei (Lena Headey). I’m hoping the spoilers I read about Jaime are true ….. shhhhhhh! Won’t mention them here. According to our Nikolaj filming begins on season eight starting in October and he said he’ll be reporting to set. That is very good news in that Jaime will survive this season. I’m hoping too he’s around for the War for the Dawn. I hope the foreshadowing of one line in Spoils of War bode well, I hope, for Jaime’s survival until the end of the series where Bronn (Jerome Flynn) said to Jaime as the Dothraki were making their run at the Lannister/Tarley forces about being a good commander. Lines like that aren’t just thrown out there willy nilly. Fingers crossed.

With no Nikolaj in tonight’s episode Beyond the Wall, that leaves us with only a promo for the season seven finale. No name for this one yet, but I’ll have it for next week. Is it selfish to want this episode to leak?
